How Well Optimised is Far Cry 5 Far Cry 5 CPU Core Usage and Multithreading Performanceįar Cry 5 CPU Usage during 1080p / Ultra Benchmark with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060įar Cry 5 GPU Usage during 1080p / Ultra Benchmark with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060Īs you can see, Far Cry 5 appears to be well-optimized for modern systems. ![]() At this level, Far Cry 5 is pretty much unplayable. The bar is almost red, indicating that Far Cry 5's frame rate goes above 30 fps. This is fantastic, and it's why we see the yellow and orange absolute dominate the performance chart. In this benchmark, not a single frame is rendered over 33.33ms, equivalent to 30 frames per second. You've just got to watch out for that red slither of poor performance which can cause Far Cry 5 to stutter during action scenes.Ĭuriously, 1440p returns fewer poor frames. However, the largely green bar tells us that the performance is, on the whole, pretty solid. On 1080p in Far Cry 5, we see the largest spread of frame times, ranging from 90fps all the way down to a few serious drops to 30 and sometimes even 15 frames per second. A primarily orange or red bar indicates lower frame rates. The better the performance, the greener the bar should be. In the charts below, each gradient from left to right represents a different frame time, ranging from 66.65ms, equivalent to less than 15 frames per second. By looking at the frame times, we can identify whether a game is guilty of stuttering. A game may run at 60 frames per second on average, for example, but occasionally dip down to single-digits. As we discussed a little a few weeks ago, many find that frames per second results don't necessarily provide the data they're after. Far Cry 5 Frame TimesĪnd now, time for the first rollout of a new feature designed to shine a little more light on frame times. Aiming is nearly impossible and performance is all over the place during action scenes. The averages look okay but it's nowhere near playable. Performance dips are more pronounced though, so 1440p players would be recommended to dip down to a mixture of Medium & High if using a GTX 1060 to play FarCry 5.Īs for 4K - don't bother. ![]() The performance hit when playing at 1440p resolution isn't actually huge, and if you've got a high-resolution monitor then it may be worth considering this option. There are occasional dips, the lowest dipping down to the equivalent of 2fps very briefly, resulting in a major stutter, but for the most part, it holds firm and provides a very playable frame rate in Far Cry 5. However, the GTX 1060 6GB is still capable of hitting 60 frames per second average at Ultra / 1080p in FC5. From memory, I believe this looks a fair bit nicer than Far Cry 4, particularly the interiors and lighting, and it does make for a game that's more demanding. These benchmarks were conducted during gameplay, not using the in-game benchmark tool.Ībsolutely solid yet unremarkable, would be my summation of Far Cry 5's performance. This system is fairly similar to the recommended specs, slightly exceeding both the recommended CPU and GPU, so we're expecting it to run pretty well. It’s backed up by 16GB DDR4 memory and an Intel Core i7-5820K CPU.
